Child safety standards
Ronski is a dating and community app for gay, bi, trans and queer men, made in Finland. It is only for adults aged 18 or over. Developer: Oskar Varis. This page sets out our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), how to report it, and what we do when we find it.
Zero tolerance
On Ronski it is never allowed to:
- share, request or link to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or anything that sexualises a minor or a person who appears to be a minor;
- contact, groom or solicit a minor for sexual purposes, or try to meet a minor;
- threaten someone to get images, money or anything else (sextortion);
- create or use an account if you are under 18.
How we keep minors out
- Every account needs a date of birth, and an account with a date under 18 is blocked. The date is locked once set.
- An account is put on a temporary safety hold at once if a member reports it as possibly under 18, if the member's own name or bio states an age under 18, or if someone tries twice within 30 days to change the locked date of birth. While on hold, other members cannot see the account and it cannot send messages or post.
- A person reviews every hold. If the member is under 18, the account is closed.
Detection
Photos are checked by an image classifier when they are uploaded, and again when someone reports them.
How to report
- In the app: tap Report on a profile, in a chat or on a photo, and choose "Underage", or another reason. Reports of child sexual abuse material and threats to safety are handled first.
- By email: [email protected].
- If a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first (112 in Finland and the rest of the EU).
- You can also report to the Finnish police (poliisi.fi) or to Nettivihje, the Finnish hotline run by Save the Children Finland (pelastakaalapset.fi).
What we do
- Suspected child sexual abuse material is quarantined as soon as a moderator confirms it or our checks find it: it is never shown again and is kept only as evidence for the authorities. A report of it alerts our moderators at once and is reviewed first.
- The account that shared it is suspended permanently. A person reviews every case.
- We report it to the Finnish police without delay and keep the evidence securely for them. If a life or safety is at risk, we inform the police or other competent authorities at once (EU Digital Services Act, Article 18).
- We cooperate with law enforcement and follow Finnish and EU law on child protection.
